About the event
If the traditional classical concert experience isn’t for you - and you want to try something new - join this power house female ensemble on 30 March 2023.
Synchrony will perform music by Stravinsky, Bartók, Ligeti and a premiere by Florence Maunders at Ugly Duck, one of London’s most unique art venues.
As part of the project, 30 tickets will be made available (for a nominal fee) to girls with an interest in music from local secondary schools, and who may not have had an opportunity to experience world-class live chamber music. Invitations will also be sent to Phoenix Place, a specialist school for students with social, emotional, mental health needs, SEN or complex needs. The school will be consulted in how we might make the performance more accessible, by encouraging the audience to bring yoga mats or cushions to create places of rest for those who might experience sensory overload for example.
Synchrony aims to break down preconceptions about music and dismantle the perceived barrier between performers and audience, by making ourselves and our music accessible to anyone. This programme will also serve a community service and demonstrate the commitment of musicians and businesses to promote the arts in less served areas of London.
