'If your sound is well, you feel well' - Johannes Goritzki
Kirsten currently has a small class of private students. She has been invited to give masterclasses throughout the UK and abroad, including for Absolute Classics in Scotland, and as far afield as Indonesia and Japan. She has given lessons at the Junior Royal Academy of Music in London, and at the residential chamber music course Procorda in Norfolk. This July Kirsten will be coaching and giving masterclasses for Opus One Studio at the Royal College of Music in London, and she will be returning to teach at Cadenza International Summer Music School at the Purcell School.
Kirsten strongly believes that talent and potential will only get a student so far, and positive reinforcement and a structured approach to teaching will ideally motivate a good work ethic.

Kirsten's approach to cello technique comes from her teacher, Johannes Goritzki, who in turn studied with Gaspar Cassado and Pablo Casals. The idea of playing the cello with an outward, open attitude with the body relaxed and free, working with natural forces such as gravity and natural body weight to develop an individual, personal sound.
